I'm proud to serve you and your family and represent your values in Congress.

As a family man and father of two, my wife, Imelda, and I teach our kids to work hard and play by the rules.  You can always count on me to be honest, to work hard and to do my very best for your family.  I have earned a reputation for being one of the most effective congressmen at passing amendments and working as an independent voice with both parties to put the public interest over any partisan interest.

When I was first elected to Congress in 2004, I made three promises: to work hard, to be accessible, and to produce real results. I am pleased to tell you that we have delivered on all 3 accounts.  I travel home to the district EVERY week so that I can be with you at important events and hear your concerns directly.  Nearly every weekend we host "Coffee with the Congressman" in a local community to give every taxpayer the opportunity to hear a legislative update and speak directly to me.  I have personally driven more than 300,000 miles visiting the local communities of District 28 more than 540 times.  I secured more than $3 billion in funding for local schools, hospitals, roads & bridges, border security and veterans,

As we continue to work on getting the national economy back on track by creating jobs and cutting taxes, I will continue to be your voice for affordable healthcare reform to we ensure that everyone who needs medical attention receives it. My commitment to provide a quality education for every child has not wavered - it's an issue I've championed since my time in the State House.

I'm fortunate to serve on the Homeland Security and Agriculture Committees. This has allowed Texas to be on the front lines of issues critical to our economy and communities. There is so much work still to be done. We can turn our dreams into reality by working together. Thank you for your ideas, advice and participation.
