Congressman Cuellar discusses possible plan for migrant caravan

LAREDO,Texas(KGNS)- With the migrant caravan moving closer to the U.S.-Mexico border and making international headlines, more migrants are also making their way to the border as well.

Congressman Henry Cuellar says the first caravan, mainly composed of women and children and some male adults is currently in Oaxaca, Mexico.

However, there is a second caravan that is made up of young adults.

The second caravan is said to be more violent and the group has been seen assaulting authorities by throwing rocks at them as they attempt to cross into Mexico.

The group has already broken a gate at a bridge and they are not showing any signs of retreat.

In the event the caravan decides they want to head to south Texas, Cuellar says he is taking a proactive approach.

The congressman says he has sat down with Border Patrol agents in south Texas and have put a possible plan of action together.

When they arrive at the border, Cuellar says male adults will be placed in detention centers and if they have a criminal record, they will be detained.
