On Saturday, November 23rd, Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-TX28) released the following statement after filing for re-election with the State of Texas:
"This week I announced my campaign for reelection in the 28th District of Texas. As we commemorate fifty years since the loss of a great American president, I am reminded of a favorite quote of mine from John F. Kennedy - "Let us not look for the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer." I take those words to heart as I seek to build consensus and find common sense solutions to the most important issues for American families and businesses.
I have worked hard this year to fight for the best interests of families and taxpayers in Texas:
--This year, I passed a bill out of the House that would keep the federal government accountable to taxpayers by requiring all agencies to meet a minimum standard of customer service.
--I worked with Democrats and Republicans to seek reform of our broken immigration system by securing the border with smart technology and creating a guest worker plan to create jobs and benefit the economy
--I stood up consistently for veterans and taxpayers, averaging over 500 cases on a continuous basis with a 90% rate of success
I am thankful for the support of Texas voters and look forward to continuing my work for you."
